Manroland Sheetfed’s Roland 700 Evolution saw the press’s one thousandth printing unit rolling off the assembly line at its headquarters in Offenbach, Germany in October of this year. The first Evolution 700 Press was installed at prestigious Austrian printing house Samson Druck in October of 2014. They found it performed so well, that they ordered a second ten-colour Evolution press soon afterwards.
The 1,000th installation was for a six-colour, double-coating press with a wide range of accessories at Wavre-based Belgian Packaging printer Impritex. The Roland 700 Evolution has been characterized for its many technical innovations – including SPL (Simultaneous Plate Loading) which allows for cleaning of blankets and impression cylinders during the plate-changing process, and a newly developed PPL (Power Plate Loading) that delivers automated coating plate changes to make the changeover process even faster and more user-friendly. Flexible utilization of equipment is also a hallmark of the press, as evidenced in printing units that are prepared for both conventional and UV inks. Newly developed UV inks, mist-extraction systems, and four-fold detergent circuits reduce changeover issues between different ink systems.
In addition to these many technical innovations, Manroland Sheetfed has also provided the ProServ 360° service partnership package for all of ots Roland 700 Evolution owners. For 24 months after installation, this maintenance contract provides periodic inspections, remote check-ups and machine maintenance, and performance analysis and information on how to exploit improvements. For many years, the Roland 700 HiPrint and its Direct Drive have been significant factors in Impritex’s success in exporting products to many countries from its headquarters just outside of Brussels. “The best of both machines has now been combined in the new Roland 700 Evolution,” said the OEM. Based on these positive experiences, Impritex ordered a well-equipped Roland 706 LTTLV Evolution specially designed for long production runs. Achieving the highest productivity will be the main focus of the press configuration. Overall, 1,000 Evolution printing units have been delivered to more than 35 countries and to a variety of market segments and application areas.
