Recently adding an Esko Kongsberg C60 Finishing Table to its cutting department, trade printer Sina Printing (Markham, Ontario) has now doubled its finishing capacity while relying on the Kongsberg C to handle more difficult materials and more specialty folds. The installation will also help handle Sina’s high demand from its web2print portal, Sinalite.com. Sina Printing is a family-run trade printing business formed 15 years ago. The company began with a small storefront and a two-colour press. Today, Sina Printing, along with its online division SinaLite.com, has established itself as the number one trade printer for thousands of print resellers all across Canada and the U.S. The company has several high-end presses, a full in-house bindery and employs over 110 staffers within its 60,000-sq.-ft. facility. SinaLite offers a wide range of products including traditional printing, signage, promotional products, direct mail, packaging, labels and office materials. About 90% of Sina’s orders come online.
Sina was operating a digital cutting table, but as orders continued to grow, it decided it needed a second table. “It was the amount of work. We knew we would continue to use our older machine, but wanted to at least double our capacity,” said Sina President Mike Meshkati. After some research, he decided to invest in a Kongsberg C60 Digital Cutting Table. “Basically, we knew that there are more Kongsberg tables in the Toronto area than any other table,” Meshkati added. “We also knew that there were two or three service techs in the area available to help companies when needed. To be honest, availability of the machine was an important factor. We got it on the floor when we needed it. Not only do the Esko specs suggest it was faster than our existing cutter, it was faster according to our own observations.”
The Kongsberg C is designed to handle all types of substrates, thick to thin, and is the only super-wide-format finisher to offer a 3kW continuous-duty, high-performance milling unit. The OEM added that the Kongsberg C delivers the same performance every time, even on the most demanding materials or for the most complex jobs. It also offers size and productivity features simultaneously, eliminating the need to own dedicated digital finishers for different applications. The technology offers a “full finishing solution” consisting of hardware, software, bits and blades, as well as techical support.
