Newly restructured association brings renewed hope
Like the mythical Arabian Phoenix rising from the ashes, the Canadian Printing Industries Association (CPIA, Toronto) has launched a newly restructured printing industry association in Canada. This is arguably the most uplifting and crucial announcement in our industry for quite some time. For far too long, the printing industry in Canada has lacked a real voice – a national, united voice to improve the lives of hard-working print professionals through government lobbying, educational opportunities, special events and more, in an industry that’s absolutely vital to this country’s economy.
The revitalized CPIA now operates under a new membership structure that unifies key industry stakeholders across Canada. This will enable the association to provide a national voice and platform for the graphic arts industry, and to serve as an important connection point for Canada’s regional print associations, the supplier community and graphic arts post-secondary programs. Members of the CPIA within this new structure will consist of six regional print associations and one supplier association. These seven CPIA members are:
1. PrintForward Printing and Imaging Association
2. Printing and Graphics Industries Association of Alberta (PGIA)
3. Saskatchewan Printing Industries Association (SPIA)
4. Manitoba Print Industries Association (MPIA)
5. Ontario Printing Industries Association (OPIA)
6. Quebec Association of the Printing Industry (AQII)
7. Printing Equipment and Supply Dealers of Canada (PESDA).
The CPIA Board will also include an “at-large position” representing the Atlantic Canada provinces. Its 11-member Board of Directors will include one or two reps from each association member.
