Feeling grateful

If you celebrate Thanksgiving, October is a month that has us thinking about what we are grateful for. Perhaps we can start with a successful Print 13 in Chicago. The atmosphere at the show was overwhelmingly optimistic, with some suppliers boasting that it was their best show, in terms of sales, to date! While I have heard many good news stories from the show, I was not able to attend. This fall, my husband and I are happy to share that we are grateful for the birth of our gorgeous daughter. She is a sweet little diva, who requires me to keep this month’s editorial extra concise.
This month’s lead story discusses the relationship between print and digital media. Jason Lisi quite rightly identifies that it resembles the bond between siblings…often competitive but also able to create a harmonious family. We also take a look at an interesting concept in this month’s Inspired Projects column – the disappearing package. While packaging itself is a growing market and packaging is not going away anytime soon, the article discusses innovative ways some companies have reduced their package footprint. Printing using innovative technologies plays a key role here.
Knowing that print is a great communicator, in this issue we also look at some trends in visual communication. In particular we look at changes that have been driven by rapidly evolving digital media.
Hope you have a wonderful start to the fall, have plenty to be thankful for, and end the month off with a boo! We’re happily taking Halloween costume suggestions for our little girl.
