The Smallest Printing Company is an adorably tiny and fully-functional travelling printing house. Letterproeftuin, a Dutch open source design studio, has created this remarkable little pressroom for the International Poster and Graphic Design Festival Chaumont 2013. The project encompasses two printing technologies, including a mini etching press and an itty-bitty silk screening station. The etching press is a working scale model of a Roco-Ets V50 press and the screening station is a working scale model of a Viprotech silk screen table. The technologies work together to produce tiny books and posters. The presses are packed in crates with ink, paper and all of the tools needed for a print-ready facility. When in operation, the two crates are stacked on top of one another, which ensures the presses are at the correct height for their operators.
According to the Letterproeftuin design studio, the group is “based on a passion for printmaking” and they “combine craftsmanship and technology with inspiration, collaboration, hard work and fun.” The images below illustrate the incredible nature of this project and design studio.
