Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Hello GAM readers! I wanted to take this opportunity to share some exciting news. This summer we will be adding another feisty little girl to our family. I’m excited to meet her, but as I’ve been told by many veteran parents, two is more than double the work. As a result I will be stepping down from the position of associate editor at Graphic Arts Magazine. I’ve been working with the magazine for a decade, so this is no small decision. I would like to express my sincere thanks to Joe and Maureen for all of the opportunities, guidance and friendships their family-owned, Canadian business has provided. I’m so proud to have been part of the hustle that makes up Canada’s entrepreneurial spirit.
I began working with the magazine roughly at the same time as I started teaching. The two could not have been a better partnership. Teaching at Ryerson is incredible and made better by the opportunity to share what we learn with the broader graphic arts community. I truly believe that the editorial content at GAM is first in class. Our writers are forward thinking, and generously share their skills and knowledge with the community. I have had the privilege of representing GAM at some great events, from local trade shows, to user groups, conferences and even international gatherings. It’s exciting to join these events in an effort to share them with readers. I really believe that our industry is home to some of the nicest and most passionate professionals.
You may have noticed that, in addition to covering special events at GAM, my focus has shifted more specifically to packaging. I remain devoted to other areas of our sector as well, like design, management, and traditional print and workflow technologies. However packaging offers new areas of learning, not just for me but for our readers. While I am stepping down as the associate editor, I will continue to be part of the writers community for GAM, returning to write after my parental leave. A big thank you for your readership, and your openness to our publication. I’m yet to meet a GAM reader who isn’t happy to help, share and explore new ideas!
