Drupa may be over, but it’s certainly not forgotten. Our own Jason Lisi visited the many buildings at drupa 2012, is still able to walk, and gives you some interesting highlights from his point of view. Meanwhile Tony Curcio has some positive reactions from Canadians who exhibited and visited the big show. Generally speaking, even though attendance was down about 20% from 2008 and the first few days were slow, traffic quickly picked up and most of the 1,850 exhibitors we talked to gave Düsseldorf four stars out of five.
This was due mostly to the fact that about 50% of all visitors placed orders – and most inked them at the show itself! The wonderful technology on display and special themed areas such as drupa Innovation Park and drupa Cube also got rave reviews. At the show’s close, about 314,500 people from more than 130 countries attended. Congratulations to exhibitors, visitors and especially to its organizers on a superb job.
Next up on the show schedule is Graph Expo, October 7 – 10 at McCormick Place South in Chicago, the SGIA Specialty Printing & Imaging Technology Show in Las Vegas, October 18 – 20, the Print World show on short-run technology November 17 – 19 at Exhibition Place in Toronto, and of course our own event, Printing Survivor II in Toronto Thursday, September 20. At press time, it was the bruised L.A. Kings and battered New Jersey Devils in the Stanley Cup Finals. Regardless of who wins, the series promises to be a gruelling “last-man-standing” affair. The summer is starting off in a great way and I wish all of you a warm and wonderful season.
