First, I’d like to thank Mi5 Print and Digital Communications for the exceptional job they did on this month’s cover and indeed on printing and finishing our entire magazine – the largest issue we’ve published this year. The cover was designed by Andrei Talbot of Walk Tall Brand Design and there’s an explanation of how it was printed on page 42. I’d also like to thank our former printers, Millenium Printing, for their outstanding work on previous issues.
It should be a very busy fall with numerous tradeshows looming. Print 13, September 8-12 in Chicago heads the list with over 500 exhibitors. One of the most exciting additions this year is the premiere of the co-located Converting and Package Printing Expo (CPP Expo). There are over 64 co-located conferences, dozens of seminars and new technology at every turn. We’ll be in booth 3278, so please stop by and say hello.
Graphics Canada, November 21-23 at the International Centre in Mississauga just added a new 3D Printing Pavilion. We’ll continue to keep you informed as new features and exhibitors are booked. At press time, Fujifilm, Canon, Konica Minolta, Ricoh, Epson, Sydney Stone, Ernest Green, GBC, Muller Martini, ND Graphics, Proveer, Pressdown, Esko, Printer’s Parts, Access Imaging and Masterwork USA were some of the major exhibitors. We’re producing this year’s Show Guide and selling booth space as well. Please check the ad on page 50 or contact us at 1-877-513-3999.
And there’s more good news. Our website traffic is up 20% compared to the same period last year. I’m also happy to report that our combination of online and in-magazine marketing and promotion strategies (our Market Dominance Reputation Packages) have been well received and are making a positive difference in the response rates of advertisers who have adopted them.
We’re also announcing this month the premiere of the GAMAS, our first-ever Graphic Arts Magazine Awards for 2013. We’re finalizing all the details now, so watch for special announcements in the weeks to come. In addition to receiving an award, we’ll announce the winners via our weekly E-newsletter that reaches over 10,000, we’ll publish the winners’ list in Graphic Arts Magazine (that has a readership of over 50,000), and we’ll also highlight the winners on our website.
For more information check the ad on page 31, visit www.graphicartsawards.com or call 1-877-513-3999.
I’ve experienced a lot of positive energy and high expectations from talking with hundreds of people throughout our industry over the summer. I know the challenges are great, but so are the opportunities. So…
As always, stay positive and stay focused.
