As far as I’m concerned, the big news this month is the revitalization of the Canadian Printing Industries Association (CPIA) and the launch of its low-cost national recruitment campaign. Printing is a $9 billion industry in Canada employing over 70,000 hard-working people, many of whom I’ve had the privilege to meet. We deserve experienced representation and assistance. And here’s the best news of all: the cost is only $9.95 a month for membership. The CPIA was formed by leaders in our industry over 75 years ago. Since then it has proudly represented printers and lobbied government, ensuring that we’re heard and considered in light of legislation and advocacy. Throughout the years, it has also served as an important resource in terms of information, education, networking and support for worthy causes. In my opinion, this may be our last opportunity to have a national organization to represent us and help us. The low-cost membership fee includes access to a comprehensive HR Tool Kit, credit monitoring services and constant, up-to-date market intelligence and data. Let’s get behind them 100%. You can contact Evan Cambray, CPIA Administrator for more details: (613) 236-7208 or 1-800-267-7280. E-mail: ecambray@cpia-aci.ca or visit www.cpia-aci.ca.
Congratulations to Tony Karg, who left his position as Senior Director of Corporate Communications and Marketing for Fujifilm Canada’s Graphic Systems Division on March 31. He’s landed on his feet and is now with Ricoh Canada.

Finally, as I’m writing this, the weather isn’t the only thing that’s getting hot. The Toronto Blue Jays are in first place in the competitive American League East!
So let’s keep our fingers crossed.
As always, stay positive and stay focused.
