View From the Publisher – Oct 2014

As we all know, September, October and November are traditionally tradeshow months. I walked the floor every day of Graph Expo and the crowds and booth traffic were strong and steady. But I also noticed a renewed enthusiasm. Not surprisingly, a lot of new products were launched at the show and we’ve been keeping track of those for you. So once again, congratulations to show organizer GASC for putting together another amazing event. As the show date coincided with this issue’s press time, we’ll have a complete wrap-up in our November issue. In the meantime, you can check our website (www.graphicartsmag.com) for updates and comments from exhibitors.
Two other important events are coming. The SGIA Expo in Las Vegas October 22-24 is already sold out with over 500 companies and organizations showcasing the latest imaging techniques, newest wide format technologies and cutting-edge industry applications. We’ll have a wrap-up in our November issue and keep you up to date on our website.
The Printed Electronics USA show covering printed, organic and flexible electronics has already exceeded 150 exhibitors. Hosted by IDTechEx on November 19-20 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in the heart of Silicon Valley, California, the event will focus on the commercialization of this exciting and emerging technology, while bringing together end users and companies throughout the supply chain. At press time, the event was already 80% sold out!
Speaking of events almost sold out, our Print Community Forum November 13 & 14 in Vaughan, Ontario was 60% sold out at press time and has already attracted nine of the industry’s most knowledgeable and renowned speakers – led by Dr. Joe Webb, whose groundbreaking book “This Point Forward” written with Richard Romano, will be printed on-site by exhibitor Konica Minolta Canada on its bizhub C1100 Press and available at a special discount. This must-read publication has been hailed at the “bible” for commercial printers who want to succeed in the future. Check our Print Community Forum pages throughout this issue and visit our website and www.printcommunity.com for continuing updates on topics, speakers and exhibitors. Updates will also be featured in our weekly e-newsletter, on our social media channels, and in our November issue. Finally, I can assure you that our staffers are working hard every single day to get the word out and encourage attendance. There’s also an early-bird 50% ticket discount on daily $20 tickets if you order online by October 31.
For tickets call Jenna Lyons at 905-473-9111, e-mail info@printcommunity.com or visit www.printcommunity.com. For booth space inquiries, call me personally at 1-877-513-3999.
