Recently, we’ve been featuring some major, first-ever equipment installations that have occurred here in Canada in the past several months. This month continues that trend. Our cover story focuses on Copywell Printing in Vaughan, Ontario. This growing commercial printer has become the first in Canada to install a Ricoh Pro VC60000 Printer from Ricoh Canada, headquartered in Mississauga. The remarkable, new-generation, continuous-feed inkjet printer is ideal for direct mail, book printing, magazine printing and marketing materials. Ricoh has characterized the new modular system as “the most versatile colour inkjet system available on the market today”.
The investment will take Copywell to an entirely new level of efficiency, cost-effectiveness and print quality, while adding tremendous value for its current and potential clients – especially in the realm of variable – as it competes with offset in both price and quality. This is one success story you’ll definitely want to read. Success stories like this in our challenging industry are not just important – I believe they can also inspire other printers.
If you thought drupa signaled the end of the 2016 tradeshow season, think again! Our team will be previewing and reporting from three major shows this month. The 2016 SGIA Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada, Sept. 14-16, will bring together specialty imaging professionals, showcasing their amazing equipment, technology and applications. We’ll be distributing 1,500 copies of our magazine at the front of the show as visitors enter.
Then we’re off to Consac’s Sign Expo Canada Sept. 23-24 in Mississauga, Ontario. The Sign Association of Canada’s national tradeshow attracts people from all over the world to see the latest and greatest that the Canadian sign industry has to offer. Please stop by booth 110, say hello, and enter our free draw for a great prize.
Finally, there’s Graph Expo Sept. 25-28 in Orlando, Florida. We’ve got a preview in this issue along with some suggestions on booths you should visit. Please stop by our booth (505) and enter our free draw for a great prize. We’ll also be distributing 2,500 copies of our magazine at the front of the show as visitors enter, and we’ll have additional copies available at our booth.
You’ll also want to check out other fascinating stories in this issue that delve into sensory printing, Near Field Communication, preflighting, wide format, educational opportunities, funding for 3D printing, electricity rebates and more.
Finally, it’s back to school for the kids and back to work full-throttle for most of us in this crazy industry. I hope you enjoyed our hot summer and got a chance to recharge your batteries.
As always, stay positive and stay focused.
