4over has entered the 3-D printing marketplace as the first trade printer to offer 3-D printing technology as a service out of the company’s Glendale, California headquarters. The leading trade-only company will use Fused Deposition Modeling – a manufacturing method ideal for the creation of prototypes, samples for packaging development and original items.
Plant Manager Paul Kett told Graphic Arts Graphic Arts Magazine that orders will be processed quickly through 4over’s Glendale location and shipped to customers in Canada – for now. The California-based trade printer officially opened its new 50,000-square-foot Canadian production facility in April of 2012, though it actually began producing work in December of 2011.
“Our goal is to give our customers a simple and affordable 3-D printing solution to offer their own customers,” said 4over’s CEO Zarik Megerdichian. “This technology brings with it so many benefits that traditional methods of manufacturing or prototyping don’t offer. We’re confident that 3-D printing will give our customers access to new markets, enabling them to grow their businesses faster and to be more relevant than ever before.”
Since its inception in 2001, 4over has experienced double-digit and triple-digit growth annually – unheard-of in the trade printing industry. The company has expanded from a single building in 2001 to multiple facilities in California, Ohio, Texas, Florida, Arizona, Illinois, New Jersey, and of course, Canada.
