New features of Agfa Graphics’ Advantage N Platesetter line for newspaper applications will target mainly high-volume, heavy-duty printers by offering more efficiency and autonomy in pre-press. Earlier this year, Agfa Graphics introduced its new Advantage N-TR VHS (Trolley Load, Very High Speed) Platesetter for the high-volume newspaper market. At the 2015 World Publishing Expo in Hamburg, Germany October 5 – 7, it will launch two new options for its Advantage N-TR and Advantage N-DL lines to expand plate-load capacity. For Advantage N-DL and N-TR (maximum 300 plates per hour), a new FlexTray configuration will allow for loading of up to 1,500 single plates of one size. For the Advantage N-TR HS and VHS (350 – 400 plates per hour), the same FlexTray can be installed as well as an additional FlexTray for 100 single or pano plates – for a total of 1,600 plates.
“The benefits for a printer are clear, said Emiel Sweevers, Marketing Manager for Newspaper Engines, Agfa Graphics. “Longer plate production autonomy – and therefore less production stops due to plate reloading – will reduce manual loading errors and result in more sustainable pre-press operations.” The OEM added that its Advantage N series meets the requirements of all newspaper printers, including smaller local print shops as well as high-volume, heavy-duty printers publishing hundreds of thousands of newspapers each day.
