Canon Canada has announced the launch of three new 44-inch-wide, high-volume, large-format inkjet printers – the Canon imagePrograf iPF850, iPF840 and iPF830 models (that are also available as multi-function devices). Each is designed to bring “reliable, affordable and precise printing” to the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC), and Computer Aided Design (CAD) markets. Ideal for medium-to-large workgroups, the five-colour technical document printers feature 15,360 ink nozzles for intricate full-colour renderings, technical drawings and maps. In addition to a two-media roll system featured in both the iPF850 and iPF840, the iPF850 model adds a high-capacity stacker that can hold up to 100 sheets of different sized paper (up to A0). The stacker neatly gathers newly printed documents to help prevent paper curling and allow users to collect them quickly.
Productivity enhancements
The printers have several new design features to help workgroups improve workflow efficiency and save time. The two-media-roll system featured in the iPF840 and iPF850 models reduces downtime by enabling automatic paper switching between rolls to allow for continuous, uninterrupted high-production printing without user intervention. The two-roll support feature further enhances output efficiency by simultaneously handling different types and varying widths of paper up to 44 inches wide. These new printers also feature a 320 GB hard drive, high chroma magenta ink and Gigabit Ethernet.
Delivering fast print speeds of up to 22 seconds, the devices’ upgraded design enables quick, continuous printing by allowing users to replace the available, high-capacity, 700 ml ink tanks during print jobs without pausing production, thus helping to increase productivity. Additionally, over time, this new series of printers can assist high-volume offices in tracking and attaining significant cost savings. For scan-to-print capabilities, the iPF840 and iPF830 models are also available as multi-function printers (MFPs) and include complete scan-to-print, file, and share solutions. They can scan documents up to 2 mm thick. The MFP models include a Contex scanner, Nextimage MFP software, a computer, touchscreen monitor and MFP stand to help meet a variety of office needs.
User-friendly software
The devices include PosterArtist Lite and Direct Print & Share cloud portal software that utilizes a ‘shortcut feature’ for batch printing and allows files to be dragged and dropped into hot folders on the desktop. The models are also compatible with the imagePrograf Print Utility app that allows print jobs to be managed from mobile devices. The mobile app facilitates wireless printing from a compatible iPad device. With royalty-free templates, backgrounds, clip art and fonts, Canon’s PosterArtist Lite provides users with the tools to create professional quality posters, signs and banners. In addition to Canon software, there are independent software vendors that have made their software compatible with the new printers. These include Onyx Graphics, SA International (SAi), System Development Incorporated (SDI) and CADLinkTechnology Corporation.
The new printers became available to ship as of yesterday. Canon Canada is headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario, and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Canon USA.
