CJ Graphics’ 33rd annual open house attracts over 1,600 and raises $25,000+ for charity

As always, the direct-mail piece promoting the event was another head-turner reflecting CJ Graphics’ design, print quality and creativity.  The format was a printed replica of a Canadian Passport with a simulated dark blue leather cover that included gold foil stamping of the CJ Graphics logo and the word “Passport.” All necessary information, including a location map and a list of generous sponsors, was included on the inside pages.

Jay Mandario led the event’s live auction.

CJ Graphics’ 33rd annual open house party and fundraiser was held Friday evening December 6, 2019 at its expanded location in Mississauga, Ontario, and attracted 1,675 guests. The popular annual industry event is held on the first Friday of every December and is known throughout the industry as the first major party that kicks off the holiday season. It’s always been a family affair for young and old, as well as a fundraiser and an enjoyable evening for those in the printing industry, their guests and others.
This year, its traditional live auction (with CJ Graphics’ President and CEO Jay Mandarino as auctioneer) raised $12,725, while its silent auction raised $13,209. The funds always go to help CJ’s Skatepark, which serves all children in the community including at-risk youth and those with special needs – such as Autism, Asperger’s and Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Cancer, ADHD, the Deaf, or any other challenge one might have. A total of $1,143 was also raised for its CJ Skatepark Foundation.
As usual, the admission “fee” was a donation of non-perishable food items for the Mississauga Food Bank, or a cash donation, which CJ Graphics matches. This year, about 1,430 pounds of food and $780 in cash was donated. Food stations were located throughout the new 250,000-square-foot production facility that was transformed into a lively party venue. Not surprisingly, the food was incredible and included BBQ burgers, sushi, fresh oysters, pulled pork, braised ribs, chicken, cheeses, salsa and tortilla chips, assorted cold cuts, vegetables and various dips, sandwiches, pizza, an assortment of non-alcoholic refreshments, nutrition bars and an array of luscious, assorted desserts. Everyone had a wonderful, wonderful time. Graphic Arts Magazine would like to congratulate Jay, his hard-working staff, event volunteers, participating charities, and of course, all those who attended.
