DIA to explore web-to-print and print commerce at February 15 meeting

diameetingfeb15-inThe next meeting of the Digital Imaging Association (DIA) Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Spicers (200 Galcat Drive in Vaughan, Ontario), will delve deeply into The Advancement of Print Commerce. The main challenge for web-to-print expansion today, said the organization, is centered on both the affordability of this solution and software, as well as hardware companies’ abilities to converge desktop vector-graphic tools with server technologies designed expressly for a web-to-print goal. Specific software set the stage for printers to offer web-to-print services to clients, and major software companies have nudged into this business to offer mid-range to high-range solutions. Software solutions providers offer web-to-print as “hosted” or software as a service (SaaS) solutions. Using this model, maintenance, enhancement, technical support, application upgrades and hosting are provided as an out-sourced service.
Since the software, systems, and support resources are spread over a larger client base, costs can be reduced significantly – making it possible for any print shop or print broker to offer professional web-to-print applications and services with only a modest investment of time and capital. The drive to reduce turnaround times on projects and eliminate manual intervention, has resulted in significant growth in web-to-print. The DIA Technical Committee has put together a panel of vendors and users to discuss the advancement of web-to-print and print commerce in today’s market. Please bring your questions, issues and experiences to share with this panel of experts.
