The meeting of the Digital Imaging Association (DIA) held Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Spicers in Vaughan, Ontario, delved deeply into advancements in print commerce, specifically web-to-print. In one of the most information-packed sessions to date, a panel of experts discussed dozens of topics including web-to-print integration, affordability, cost-reduction, how to price web-to-print products, the importance of training, the marketing of web-to-print services, in-house versus cloud hosting, SaaS (Software as a Service), the importance of automation (i.e. the drive to reduce turnaround times and eliminate manual interventions), site mobility, microsites, warehousing and delivery of printed products, customer engagement and education, bounce-back notifications, upselling of current clients, and much much more.

The DIA Technical Committee attracted an impressive panel of vendors and users to discuss the advancement of web-to-print and print commerce in today’s challenging market – in addition to their own unique web-to-print solutions and success stories. These included: Denis Muslimovic, Director of IT and Development (Toronto) for the Lowe-Martin Group; Burton Empey, XMpie Marketing Manager for Canada; Noel St. Jean, Sales Development Manager (Channel) for EFI; and Jeff Perk, Director of Product Management for Pageflex.
As always, moderator Jason Hamilton, Second Vice President of the DIA and VP of Innovation & Business Development for the TI-Group, shared his sharp wit and humour as he asked panel members key questions on behalf of the DIA and the audience. After the panel presentation, everyone joined in a helpful question-and-answer session.
