Urbanity Magazine (Hamilton, Ontario) has reported that CanWeb Printing Incorporated (Grimsby, Ontario) has ceased operations. About 25 employees will be affected. CanWeb serviced clients in St. Catharines, Grimsby, Burlington, Hamilton Mountain, Hamilton and Ancaster, Ontario. The full-service print shop provided full-colour commercial digital printing, catalogues and magazines, brochures, postcards, tradeshow printing, binding and finishing services, website design, graphic design and more.
The closure of CanWeb comes after the April 2016 announcement that another Grimsby printer, Premier Impressions, also plans to close its doors. CanWeb opened in 1992 and over the years expanded its Grimsby plant from about 7,000 square feet to 19,000 square feet. The company began operations as a web-only printer, but over the years added sheetfed offset, digital, wide format, bindery and more.
