At the recently concluded Label Expo Europe Tradeshow in Brussels, Belgium, Chinese press and equipment manufacturer Hans Gronhi exhibited two models of its new laser die cutters/engravers – the LC340S Sheetfed and the LC330R Roll-to-Roll. Booth traffic was high each day of the show and resulted in two sales of the LC330R, and one for LC340S, with “many potential sales” predicted in the near future.
The two models attracted a lot of interest primarily from commercial printers because today’s label market is trending to shorter runs, more customization (especially regarding shapes) and faster delivery.
“Both machines fill this market need, and can also perform much more intricate laser cutting that traditional die cutting offers,” said Helen Jing, Canadian General dealer for Hans Gronhi.
LiuXuezhi, CEO of Hans Gronhi, expressed confidence in the systems, adding that the laser die cutters/engravers combine Hans Gronhi’s proven laser technology with Japanese press manufacturer Shinohara’s proven press technology.
Both machines were five years in development, were launched earlier this year, and are now in mass production. So far, ten LC340S machines have been sold and three LC330R machines were purchased.
The machines are ideal for commercial printers and digital printers wishing to enter the label, short-run packaging and engraving markets more cost-efficiently.
In one pass, they can output a huge variety of differently-shaped labels, customized greeting cards, packaging products (with scoring), and on-demand, and meticulously-engraved products – including adhesive paper, paper, PET, PVC,PP, PE, leather, wood and other non-traditional materials.
