Since its debut at Print Media Center Atlanta (PMC-ATL) in December, the demand for the world’s only 40’’ press (the Speedmaster XL 106-8P+L ) with 3 separate UV systems has been so high, said the OEM, that Heidelberg USA recently hosted two additional Open Houses to satisfy requests to see the press.
“Customers agree that the type of UV technology needed is driven by the application requirements, not the type of UV system itself,” said Andy Rae, Senior Vice President of Equipment at Heidelberg USA. “With the hybrid UV press, we hope to support customers as they explore which type of UV is best suited for their business.”
The Speedmaster XL 106-8P+L is equipped with full UV, LE UV (Low Energy) and LED UV. The ability to switch between UV technologies gives customers the unique opportunity to test each against their own business needs and applications. Attendees agreed this hands-on approach is far more comprehensive than simply listening to a seminar. Customers experienced live results with their own products, applications and UV choice of curing. Heidelberg’s new DryStar LED “is the most energy-efficient available with instant on/off and automatic sheet size formatting function,” said the company. “Designed for maximum curing at speeds up to 18,000 sheets per hour, it utilizes the most modern semi-conductor technology and energy-saving cooling system for up to 25,000 production hours of operation.”
