Toronto-based Hume Media, a pioneer in the Canadian digital printing market, has become the first company globally to acquire the new Xerox Baltoro HF Inkjet Press. The new technology is a cut-sheet, inkjet production press that enables clients to print high-volume jobs – such as high-quality direct mail, statements, catalogues and books – on a single press with superior image quality and productivity. The Baltoro HF also expands media latitude on cut-sheet inkjet with added support for coated stocks without the need for primers or pre-treatments. According to print industry marketing research firm InfoTrends, production colour inkjet printing will account for 57% of the total production of digital colour page volume by the end of 2019.
The Xerox Baltoro HF Inkjet Press, the OEM’s first product using this platform, was engineered by leveraging Xerox iGen and High Fusion inkjet technologies. The result is “a breakthrough platform that expands into the commercial print environment and supports high-quality production with economics similar to offset printing,” said Xerox. The Baltoro HF is also the only press in the entry-level class to use automated intelligence to optimize and maintain colour and image quality as well as self-correct in real time. The Baltoro’s automated intelligence, High Fusion Ink and Xerox High Fusion W-Series Inkjet Printheads, deliver true high definition 1200 x 1200 dpi image quality. The Baltoro HF’s speed, paired with having “the widest print area in its class,” enables the press to “increase client productivity by more than 115%.” On the front end, Xerox FreeFlow Core automates time-consuming prepress work, while Xerox FreeFlow Print Server allows clients to add new jobs while the press is running.
