A. J. Bart becomes first printer in North America to install Durst Rho 1312 Printer

Full service commercial printer A. J. Bart, with locations in Dallas and New York, has acquired its first printer from Durst – a 98” Rho 1312 UV inkjet digital printer – described as “the most productive 12-picolitre, hybrid UV digital printer in its class.” A. J. Bart’s new printer is also the first Durst Rho 1312 installed in North America.

The company, which began as a small New York typesetter in 1956, today provides offset, screen printing and large-format digital imaging services to a wide range of clients, including a growing number of Fortune 500 companies. A. J. Bart currently employs more than 200 people at locations in Dallas and New York City, and plans to open a new 260,000-square-foot facility soon. Founder Alvin J. Bart said the new Rho 1312 is already contributing to the company’s growth, but added that his company did its homework before deciding on the printer.
“I conducted a lot of research and spoke to people across the industry, and the one thing I heard again and again was that ‘Durst is the best,’ ” Bart said. “And when I examined the Rho 1312 at the SGIA Expo last fall, I could tell it was the most sensible choice for our needs. Comparing it to other printers is difficult. It’s not only an amazing device, it’s also one of the most cost-effective I’ve seen.”
The 98” (250 cm) Rho 1312 prints up to 6,600 s.f./hr., and offers “improved image quality, increased reliability during printing and unparalleled media-handling flexibility, particularly with difficult and heat-sensitive media.” Durst’s Quadro Array printhead technology, applying very small droplets of only 12 picolitres, enables a high printing speed without compromising output quality. Images are crisp, clear and visually striking, said the OEM. The 1312 also incorporates “Gradual Flow Printing” for smoother tones over large areas and a high-gloss finish, even at its highest speeds.
