Konica Minolta Canada’s ReThink Print Innovation Showcase brought businesses, industry experts and students together to meet, network and share new ideas in printing. Konica Minolta was also excited to host some of the future members and leaders of our industry from Ryerson University’s Graphics Communication Management Program, as well as management and employees from Eva’s Phoenix Print Shop.
Jonathan Gault, Manager of Eva’s Phoenix Print Shop in Toronto, along with his students from Eva’s Initiatives for Homeless Youth, discussed the program as well as the services and training that Eva’s provides for at-risk youth. Attendees also learned how Eva’s partnership with Konica Minolta has helped to modernize its in-house production facility. Knowledge and equipment sessions explored the DFL-500 Dry Coat/Foil/Laminator (that offers toner-based digital foiling), as well as more finishing solutions from ACCO/GBC Canada and Graphic Whizard.
Live demonstrations all day featured the full-function universal pre-press solution ReadyPrint. Presented by RSA, the technology gives users the functionality of makeready software and basic job-submission capabilities. ReadyPrint Pro adds expanded job assembly and automated prepress applications. Both options will output to digital print devices in a print shop regardless of the brand, integrating seamlessly with RSA’s WebCRD and QDirect solutions. Also presented were a variety of high quality large-format colour and black & white printers from HP, plus Konica Minolta’s office multi-function printers and production print models available through its TrueBlue program that feature pre-owned models “at very affordable prices.”
The event also showcased how Konica Minolta is inspiring the next generation of print professionals in its mission to attract the best possible talent to our industry. “In doing so, Ryerson students have been exposed to some of the most groundbreaking technologies on the market today,” the OEM pointed out.
