According to Israeli tech news site CTech, HP Indigo General Manager Alon Bar-Shany told employees on Wednesday, June 10, that he’ll be leaving the company after 25 years, while leading it for the past 15 years as GM. HP Indigo (Ness Ziona, Israel, with offices worldwide), develops, manufactures and markets digital printing solutions – including printing presses, proprietary consumables and supplies, and workflow solutions. HP Indigo is a division of HP’s Graphic Solutions Business. It was founded in 1977 and was acquired by Hewlett-Packard in 2001 (over a decade before the technology giant split into HP Inc. and Hewlett Packard Enterprise).
According to an anonymous source with knowledge of the appointment, Bar-Shany’s departure is part of a current corporate re-organization strategy. The source also said that HP has long been attempting to implement the restructuring, but Bar-Shany had strongly opposed it. However, in recent weeks, HP Indigo finally decided to push ahead with the changes. “We are grateful to Alon for all he has done to make Indigo the market leader in digital printing, and we will benefit from his many contributions to our business for years to come,” an HP spokesperson said.
CTech also reported that Bar-Shany’s replacement, Haim Levit, will be General Manager of the HP Indigo Business Unit. Levit is an experienced leader in the printing industry. In his more than 25 years with HP Indigo, he has successfully performed a wide spectrum of leadership roles (ranging from Global Procurement Management, NA Supplies Business Management and NA Business Director, and VP and GM for HP’s Americas Indigo and PageWide Web Press) before assuming this latest role. Most recently he led worldwide go-to-market strategies for HP’s Industrial Graphics Organization. Levit is married with three children, currently resides in Boston, MA, and will be relocating to Israel this summer.
