Reliance on human decision-making for complex planning and imposition is becoming unsustainable in our industry. There’s a vast array of software available that operates most equipment in a printing operation. Yet collecting and utilizing this data in a cohesive way often never happens. At the next meeting of the Digital Imaging Association (DIA) Wednesday afternoon, February 19, a panel of software developers, vendors and printing plant experts will discuss some of the options available to close the loop on data collection – and how to then use that data to provide Key Performance Indicator’s (KPI’s), accurate “on the fly” estimates, and machine data that offers shop control worthy of being “imperative data.”
Moderated by Marc Raad of Significans Automation, the panel will include EFI (whose MIS leads the industry with machine-ready data), Tilia Labs (an Ottawa-based software development company that leverages Artificial Intelligence and smart technology to drive faster and more accurate estimating, planning and manufacturing), and Motionalysis (an OEM that’s integrated its CAD standards into digital finishing systems and has closed-loop data collection as part of its DNA). There’ll also be senior production personnel from printing companies who’ll talk about what specific data is the lifeblood of their operations. Listen to What Your Data is Telling You will take place at Spicers, 200 Galcat Drive in Vaughan, Ontario, Wednesday, February 19. Lunch will be served from noon to 12:30 pm, and the meeting will run from 12:30 pm to 2 pm.
Space will be limited, so be sure to register now by emailing Marg Macleod at marg@digitalimagingassociation.com.
