MGI Digital Technology will debut a major new addition to its award-winning JETvarnish 3D digital enhancement product portfolio – the JETvarnish 3D Evolution – the world’s first B1+ scalable sheetfed Digital Enhancement Press featuring modular and field upgradeable architecture, digital foiling and an upgradeable inkjet expansion system. It has three available substrate size options – 20” x 47’’, 25” x 47’’ and 29” x 47.’’ The “revolutionary” new digital post-press solution will premiere at Drupa in B1+ format size with 2D spot UV coating, 3D dimensional coating and digitally embossed foiling. Drupa 2016 takes place May 31 to June 10 in Dusseldorf, Germany.
Its B1+ size format option is designed to give printers and converters the ability to run fully personalized short, medium and long runs in a cost-efficient and “die-less” manner for packaging applications. Every piece finished can be a unique blend of digitally-embellished images, text, data and brand designs using spot varnish, 3D raised varnish and digitally embossed foil in one pass. The high-production press also incorporates pallet stacking, automated inkjet head cleaning, a new automatic feeding system, and a new artificial-intelligence-based sheet registration system – all of which will be unveiled and launched at Drupa. The first-ever JETvarnish 3D Evolution installation occurred at a leading commercial printer in France in March of this year.
In February of this year, after nearly two decades of collaboration, Konica Minolta Business Solutions (Canada) inked an exclusive agreement with MGI’s Digital Graphic Technology Division (Fresnes, France) to co-market and service the entire line of MGI digital printing solutions in Canada.
This month, Konica Minolta Canada’s new headquarters was relocated to the Airport Corporate Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. With modern and sleek styling, the new facility resides in one of the GTA’s major business and technology hubs.
