Mohawk, America’s largest privately-owned manufacturer of fine papers, envelopes and specialty substrates for commercial and digital printing, has announced a re-designed swatchbook for its Options + Navajo paper grade. The Options + Navajo Swatchbook is the third in a series of nine, newly redesigned Mohawk Swatchbooks that have been developed to make the paper specification process clearer, easier and more inspirational for designers, printers, stationers and paper enthusiasts.
“The new Mohawk Swatchbook series was designed for beauty and utility, to help designers discover the impact of paper, colour and texture,” said Chris Harrold, Vice President of Business Development and Creative Director, Mohawk. The Mohawk Options + Navajo line has not changed, but the new swatchbook is designed to give paper specifiers a fresh look at the grade. It showcases six premium white shades and three distinct finishes, including three 100% PCW choices. The entire Mohawk Options + Navajo line is FSC-certified and manufactured with wind power.
The new swatchbook features Mohawk’s exclusive Inxwell surface technology. Inxwell combines the tactile feel of uncoated paper with the advantages of superior ink holdout, lower dot gain and significantly increased opacity. As a result, Options + Navajo “prints better than any other uncoated paper in the world.” Ink sits on top of Inxwell papers, resulting in better colour, greater detail and “outstanding” photographic reproduction in all popular printing processes. “Inxwell combines outstanding print fidelity with the lush tactility of premium uncoated paper that Mohawk is known for,” said Bart Robinson, Senior Vice-President of Marketing at Mohawk.
The new swatchbook begins with a Quick Spec section that provides a quick, organized overview of colours, finishes and weights available within the paper grade. A Browse section allows users to delve deeper into the specification process to identify finish, shade and weight. Each waterfall within Browse contains information about available colours and weights, including one sample of every shade available within each finish. Finally, a Details section contains in-depth paper information and specific printing resources. The Options + Navajo Swatchbook was designed by Hybrid Design of San Francisco, California and produced by McCarty Printing of Erie, Pennsylvania.
