Netpak Packaging invests over $2 million in production plant

Printed folding-carton specialist Netpak Packaging (Anjou, Quebec) has introduced new automated technology and increased its production capacity at its Montreal plant by over 30% in the finishing department, with an investment of more than $2 million (CDN). In line with the company’s core values of excellence and ongoing commitment to innovation, automation and technology, Netpak has added major technology to its production facility – a Bobst MasterFold A2 110 Folder-Gluer equipped with a SpeedWave Module, as well as a Bobst Spanthera 106LER Diecutter, fully integrated with its ERP, MRP and WMS platforms. “Netpak has remained operational as an essential business and at full capacity throughout the pandemic to serve our strategic partners,” said Carlo Cammalleri, Neptak Co-founder. “Throughout the current circumstances surrounding COVID-19, our incredible, dedicated employees have stepped up their efforts. It’s thanks to them that we are able to make a series of investments and continue to surpass our objectives year after year.”

“The competition in the printing and packaging industry is the fiercest it’s ever been,” said Salvatore Novello, Netpak Co-founder. “What sets Netpak apart from competitors is our speed-to-market capabilities, efficient production times, information system and traceability. By investing in new equipment, this has allowed Netpak to remain a leader in the folding-carton industry and take folding-carton technology to a new, advanced level.”
The Bobst MasterFold A2 1110 offers speed, automated technology, efficiency, versatility and exceptional print quality of straight-line boxes. This enables non-stop production at increased speeds in addition to a high degree of automation. The MasterFold is also equipped with a SpeedWave Module that has allowed Netpak to save a tremendous amount of make-ready or changeover times, when needing to set up the folder-gluer for other styles of boxes. In fact, the addition of the MasterFold has more than doubled capacity in the final stages of production for hymes bottom-style boxes. The Bobst A2 is also fully connected and integrated with Netpak’s ERP and HRP for more efficient performance and reduced make-ready times.

The Bobst SPanthera 106LER Diecutter offers exceptional flexibility, precision, ergonomics and profitability. This versatile and powerful diecutter includes cutting, stripping and blanking in one pass at high speeds. Since its installation and integration in Netpak’s plant, it has allowed the company to stay ahead of the competition due to its high productivity, simplified operation and superior quality cutting. The Bobst SPanthera is also fully integrated with Netpak’s ERP and HRP, leading to maximum performance and reduced make-ready times. The company will also be adding a Cartonpack Module, an automatic packer, to its equipment portfolio. Featuring an integrated sampler for quality checks without stopping production, this automated line integrates with the MasterFold and automatically fills the shipping boxes with folded and glued cartons, to substantially increase the productivity of the company’s folder-gluer line.
Netpak has also obtained several certifications including the highly coveted BRCGS “Grade AA”, GMI and ISO. “We are proud to be among the first printing and packaging companies in North America to have obtained the BRCGS certification by GFSI, and more importantly, to have obtained this certification for six consecutive years due to full traceability and material flow control,” added Georges Berbari, Netpak’s Chief Operating Officer. The company said it will continue to grow in 2021 despite the pandemic, by continuing to innovate and automate their processes while meeting the demands of their customers and partners.
