The National Printing Research Council (NPRC, Melbourne, Florida) has released its latest industry research study – The 2017 Survey of Color Digital Printers. The new 60-page report is based upon a record number of responses from over 280 printers across Canada and the United States. These printers were asked to provide ratings and recommendations on their current colour digital printer – what they liked the most and what they disliked. The report also includes ratings on nine popular digital envelope printers, along with conveyors and feeders. The organization added that printers who are looking to upgrade their current digital device to something faster, or a device with more features and capabilities, will find this report “invaluable” – since it offers weighted scores on six of the most popular features most print providers look for in a new digital device. These include image quality, reliability and service, colour accuracy, F/B registration, variable-data capabilities and media handling. Ratings for each of the 11 most popular finishing options – ranging from high-capacity feeders down to booklet makers and punching devices – are also covered in this new report.
