Italian press manufacturer OMET officially launched its new iFlex Flexo Label Press recently that features reduced set-up time paired with lower maintenance, leading to “higher versatility than ever seen before” said the OEM. But more importantly, the iFlex features the iLight laser, the first-ever application of lasers in flexography. The technology automatically finds the best alignment of the plate holder to speed up the changeover and register time, resulting in a more simplified overall workflow. The iFlex’s iLight Pre-Register System uses laser pointers located on each flexo group, and its iVision “smart cameras” located on every print unit capture the register mark for immediate correction – while a monitor located centrally on the machine speeds up registration.
The new label printer is also the only machine to utilize OMET’s innovative Direct Drive technology. This increases the precision of each print and eliminates problems due to traditional gear transmission. The presence of only one gear per Flexo unit facilitates optimal print quality. At the end of the label printer’s manufacturing line is quick-change die-cutting (QCDC) technology. It’s now possible to prepare the die cylinder offline on a trolley, so there’s no need for lifting hoists. The iFlex also has a short web path of 51 inches, allowing for maximum material savings on each job.

“iFlex fills a technology gap in today’s market as it’s the ideal complement for small and large label converters with just-in-time deliveries that require quick change and low waste capabilities – as well as the flexibility to print any job, no matter the volume, with a very high ROI,” said Marco Calcagni, OMET’s Sales and Marketing Director.
OMET’s iFlex Flexo Label Press will soon be available from its exclusive North American sales agent, Matik Incorporated of West Hartford, Connecticut. Matik has been in business for over 40 years and is the exclusive North American distributor for many established European manufacturers of converting, printing, slitting and packaging equipment. These include some of the most respected names in the these industries – such as Codimag, ESS Technologies, Gietz, Goebel IMS, Grafotronic, Kelva, Melzer, Olbrich, Omet, SEI Laser, H.-D. Mendel GmbH and others.
