The Fairmont Royal York Hotel in downtown Toronto will be the venue for this year’s Canadian Journalism Foundation (CJF) Awards, hosted by The Globe and Mail’s investigative reporter and former journalist for the Toronto Star, Robyn Doolittle.
With journalism under attack by U.S. president and liar-in-chief, comrade Donald Trump (my words), who’s approaching 2,000 lies in his short term in office thus far (according to the Toronto Star, New York Times, Washington Post and other major newspapers), as well as decades of sexual assault allegations against Hollywood producers and actors, politicians and Trump himself now being revealed, reporting all the facts becomes even more crucial. During this annual event, The New York Times’ Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey will also be honoured for their investigative reporting on sexual harassment and assault allegations against Harvey Weinstein, one of Hollywood’s most powerful producers. The special awards presented will include:

  • CJF Jackman Award for Excellence in Journalism
  • CJF Lifetime Achievement Award
  • CJF Tribute
  • CJF-Facebook Journalism Project News Literacy Award (new award)
  • CJF-CBC Indigenous Journalism Fellowships
  • The Landsberg Award
  • Tom Hanson Photojournalism Award
  • Atkinson Fellowship in Public Policy
  • William Southam Journalism Fellowships

To get involved, review the sponsorship opportunities, or to purchase more than 5 tickets or a table, please contact Josh Gurfinkel at info@cjf-fjc.ca. For more information on the event itself, please visit http://cjf-fjc.ca/.
Since 1990, The Canadian Journalism Foundation (CJF) has been working to preserve, provoke and enhance excellence in journalism. The CJF is dedicated to acting as a catalyst for open and honest dialogue – helping to improve relationships between, and understanding of, the media and the private and public organizations that are often the focus of media and public attention.
