As of Monday, January 13, Canada Post Corporation (Ottawa) increased postage rates across the country by 2¢ for a domestic Lettermail item of 30 grams or less. For stamps purchased in a booklet, coil or pane, the rate is now 92¢ per stamp – up from the current rate of 90¢. Buying a single domestic stamp for the same item would cost $1.07 – up from the current rate of $1.05.
While usage varies, the Crown Corporation estimated that the impact of the rate increases on the average Canadian household would be well under $1 per year, and the total increase for the average small business that uses stamps, would be about $6 a year. Canada Post is also proposing to increase rates for domestic Registered Mail, other domestic Lettermail, U.S. mail and International Letter-Post items. We’ll keep you up to date.
