Roland DGA launches VersaExpress RF-640 Printer

Roland DGA’s new VersaExpress RF-640 8-Colour Eco-Solvent Wide-Format Inkjet Printer.

Roland DGA (Irvine, California) has unveiled its new VersaExpress RF-640 8-Colour Eco-Solvent Printer – “a next-generation 64-inch wide-format inkjet with the widest colour gamut in its class for outdoor durable graphics,” said the OEM. An evolution of Roland’s popular RF-640 Dual CMYK Printer, the RF-640 features 8-colour inks in CMYK, Light Black, Red, Green and Orange for “stunningly vibrant” prints, highly accurate colour-matching capabilities, up to three years of outdoor durability, and an economical price point.”
The RF-640 8C accurately matches and reproduces colours that are normally difficult to achieve, the company added. Up to 99% of Pantone + Solid Coated spot colours are within gamut – making this inkjet an ideal choice for printers looking to match corporate brand colours. (Internal tests show that up to 99% Pantone+ Solid Coated in Gamut. Pantone references taken from Adobe Illustrator CC 2018 Pantone+ Solid Coated Color Book. Results may vary depending on media). Roland DGA added that the new printer’s expanded gamut allows users to hit brand colours “with greater ease and precision than ever before.” It also features a state-of-the-art, gold-plated printhead with Roland Intelligent Pass Control, which precisely places dots within passes, and uses variable dot control to produce ink droplets of up to 7 different sizes.

“Colours like green and orange are notoriously challenging to reproduce precisely,” said Daniel Valade, Roland DGA Product Manager of Digital Print. “By adding these ink colours, as well as red, the RF-640 8C offers significant advantages and opportunities for print service providers, especially those working with major brands and corporate customers. This printer’s ability to match colours with ease and precision make it unbeatable for anyone producing signage with brand colours, as well as graphics demanding a wide-colour gamut.” Red, green and orange inks extend the range of achievable colours across the entire spectrum. Along with light black, they deliver exceptional skin tones and smooth gradients for unsurpassed photo reproduction, Roland added. This makes the RF-640 8C ideal for shops producing interior décor, fine art, or other types of images for hotel chains, museums, galleries, entertainment venues or offices.
