With the start of production for the German-made Rowe Scan 850i wide-format scanner set for this month, the product has already been awarded one of the most coveted prizes for innovative product development by an independent expert jury – the TOP 100 Innovator Award. One of the worldwide “firsts” of the new scanner is Rowe Safe Guard media transport technology for optimal protection of documents. This is a key innovation for users who want to digitize valuable or old already-damaged documents, said the OEM. Even extremely wavy originals (e.g. rolled banners) are safely transported and scanned. Users can also, if necessary, activate Rowe Safe Drive technology and reduce the speed. After scanning, the user can easily adjust brightness, contrast or colour, for example, without re-scanning the document. All changes will be immediately displayed in the viewer. This results in optimal protection for documents and saves time as well. The Rowe Scan 850i features automatic height adjustment up to 1.18” (30 mm), scan widths up to 60” (1524 mm), while its electrically-powered height adjustment operates fully automatically at the push of a button. Six models from 44” to 60” scan widths are available and optical resolution is 2,400 x 1,200 dpi. The technology has also eliminated problematic forward and backward movement for recognition of the document width. “On the fly” technology means that during the scanning process, the precise width of the document is detected and the Scan 850i registers the correct width of the original – even when it’s been damaged or has torn corners. The Rowe Scan 850i is compatible with all common cloud providers – e.g. OneDrive, Dropbox, Aplle iCloud, Amazon Cloud, Google Drive, MagentaCloud, etc. – and can processes all scans in several file formats including PDF, PDF/A, multi-page-PDF, multi-page-TIFF, TIFF, BMP, PNG, JPEG, JPEG 2000, DWF and CALS. A variety of functions can be grouped under the 6 Hot Keys on the operating panel (according to customer requirements) and called up at the touch of a button. Customers can also select their optimal solution from the 5 versions of the Rowe ScanManager. This results in a seamless link between scanner, digital storage, digital application and the user’s wide-format printers. Finally, the lifecycle of the scan glass of the 850i is up to 500% longer compared to conventional scanners, said the OEM.
