Schreiner ProTech, a Germany-based global leader in developing and manufacturing functional labels with value-added benefits for engineering-based industries, recently solved a challenge posed by globalization with its new ((RFID))-DistaFerr Global Label. The solution has an integrated, dual-band antenna capable of reading both of the world’s most used frequency bands – ETSI and FCC. This newest launch from Schreiner ProTech’s RFID on Metal line of label solutions “ensures reliable RFID readability on all metallic substrates in relevant markets worldwide.”
RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is a form of wireless communication that incorporates the use of electromagnetic or electrostatic coupling in the radio frequency portion of the electromagnetic spectrum to uniquely identify an object, animal or person. In RFID technology today, two different frequency bands are used globally – ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) in Europe, and FCC (Federal Communications Commission) in the Americas and Asia. Consequently, if a component is exported to several regions, it requires different RFID labels. The new ((rfid))-DistaFerr Global Label offers an efficient, cost-effective solution that covers both frequency ranges, the company added.
Like all “RFID on Metal” labels, the new ((RFID))-DistaFerr Global Label guarantees reliable readability on metal components, containers and transport items via its dual-band antenna and specialized shielding materials. The 50mm x 40mm RFID Label is only 1.7 mm thick and has a read range of up to 3 metres. With the company’s longer-range version, the read range can be up to 6 metres. The easy-to-apply label is a viable alternative to hard tags, can be custom-printed and programmed on-site, and is automatically dispensed off the roll. It’s ideally suited for use in process automation and logistics applications.
