TAPPI, the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry (Peachtree Corners, GA), has announced the launch of its new online forum, TAPPI Connect. The platform provides an online resource for members, non-members and volunteers to collaborate, share knowledge and expand their personal and professional networks. “We’re excited to offer TAPPI Connect as a means of networking, problem-solving and knowledge sharing,” said Larry N. Montague, TAPPI President and CEO. “TAPPI continually strives to deliver the most convenient, innovative methods of communicating for professionals in the pulp, paper, packaging and related forest products industries – and this is another step forward.”
TAPPI initially recruited a steering committee – consisting of volunteers who represent the majority of its 12 divisions – to help investigate the pitfalls of the previous platform and assist in establishing goals for the functionality and user-friendliness of the new program. Over several months, the committee provided feedback and suggestions on what they sought regarding the new program’s features and uses, as well as input concerning the most effective means of encouraging its use among TAPPI’s extensive membership.

Users can participate in real-time communication as well as create blogs, ask and answer questions, recruit volunteers, and enhance their membership experience. Additionally, the site holds content for member and committee profiles, calendars and file sharing for items such as agendas, meeting minutes and manuscripts.
