Why is print and paper actually green? You can find out at these 2016 fall conferences organized by Two Sides North America and its member associations. As a key industry organization, Two Sides presents the facts about paper production, use and recycling to dispel the myths, promote well-informed and confident media buying decisions, and encourage greater responsibility throughout the life of paper products. Here’s a list of conferences being held this fall:
Specialty Papers U.S. – Sept. 21-23 (Chicago, IL) – Check out the Two Sides presentation on “Dispelling Myths about Paper and the Paper Industry” September 22 at 10:30 am.
TAPPI PEERS – Sept. 25-28 (Jacksonville, FL) – Check out the panel on “Non-wood Fibre Paper Marketing – Do’s and Don’ts to Avoid Greenwashing” – September 26 from 10:30 am to noon.
Two Sides Annual Seminar co-located at GraphExpo 2016 (Orlando, FL) – September 27 from 10 am to noon. Join Two Sides for an update on print and paper advocacy campaigns, including the major How Life Unfolds consumer initiative. Here’s the schedule:
10 am-10:05 am: Introduction (Travis Mlakar, Chairman, Two Sides North America and President, Millcraft Paper Co.)
10:05 am-10:40 am: Paper & Packaging – How Life Unfolds – Campaign Update (Mary Anne Hansan, Executive Director, Paper and Packaging Board). She’ll talk about the progress of the Paper and Packaging – How Life Unfolds consumption-building campaign from the manufacturers and importers of paper and paper-based packaging and their preliminary plans for 2017.
10:40 am-11:15 am: Promoting the Effectiveness and Sustainability of Print Media – A Global View (Martyn Eustace, Managing Director, Print Power Europe Ltd.). He’ll explain how print and paper are being promoted in Europe and, more widely, how the Two Sides campaign is correcting misleading environmental marketing across the world. He will report on the successes – and sometimes, the setbacks.
11:15 am -11:45 am: Two Sides North America update and results of latest U.S. consumer perception study (Phil Riebel, President, Two Sides North America, Inc.). He’ll present the results of a Two Sides consumer perception study related to the environmental and social benefits of paper and print. Recent Two Sides initiatives and the success of its anti-greenwash campaign will be presented, including the key findings of a whitepaper Contrary to popular thinking: going paperless does not save trees.
11:45 am-noon: Two Sides Board of Director Elections
Power of Print Seminar (London, UK) – November 1. This is the Two Sides and Print Power Europe annual conference held at Stationers’ Hall in London, England – a must attend if you can make it.
Print Media Conference (Naples, FL) – November 15 tp 18. Two Sides will be part of the sustainability panel on Thursday, November 17 at 1:45 pm.
