Numerous media outlets have reported that, while negotiations continue with the help of a special mediator, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) continues to conduct rotating strikes in Winnipeg, Manitoba which began at 10 p.m. local time on Sunday, October 28. In a statement, Canada Post said it’s attempting to minimize the impact of the labour actions on customers and, as employees return to work in areas impacted by strikes, will continue to work to restore service and eliminate any mail and parcel backlogs. Employees in Vancouver and Sudbury have returned to work following CUPW’s strike activity in those locations. A special mediator appointed by the federal government joined the parties on Wednesday, October 24, and is working to help them reach a negotiated settlement.
