Oil City Press, an award-winning commercial printer in Calgary, Alberta, recently invested in a Ricoh Pro C7110X Colour Production Printer from Ricoh Canada. This new installation enhances the company’s entire print portfolio, increasing digital offerings while continuing to meet the most demanding workloads. Established in 1953, the company is a leading Western Canada printer specializing in signs, banners, displays, offset and digital printing, bindery and finishing, project consultation, fulfillment, graphic design and more. The Pro C7110X “turns productivity into profitability” as its 90 page-per-minute production engine outputs at 1,200 x 4,800 dpi (near offset quality) and can produce smaller batches with the quality effects of a higher-volume job. This production printer also reduces lead times without compromising quality or budget, providing Oil City Press with “advanced capabilities that simplify everyday printing tasks.”
ricohoilcitypress1-inWith an elastic fusing belt that supports a wide variety of textured and coated media (including white and varnish-like clear toner options), as well as support for oversized media, this technology from Ricoh Canada goes beyond traditional CMYK applications. The Pro C7110X will provide Oil City Press with the ability to expand its application portfolio while providing premium service offerings to its customers. Doug Kletke, Vice President of Oil City Press, added that he was also impressed with the excellent customer service and support that came with his new installation. “Ricoh Canada really does care about its customers – by not only providing them with excellent technology, but also the resources to get the most out of their investment,” he added.
ricohoilcitypress2-inThe Ricoh Pro C7110X Production Printer lets users add an optional Oversized Print Tray for prints ups to 27.5 inches, or use the multi-bypass unit to handle oversized prints up to 49 inches. Operators can enter up to 99 parameters per substrate to help select the correct media, and set up different ICC profiles for the front and back of a sheet. If in doubt, a media identification kit can match any sample to one in its library, and set up the job. The C7110X also monitors density variation. It adjusts developer bias and charger bias to help make sure that there’s adequate toner, ensuring ongoing colour consistency. The printer’s new Vacuum Feed Large-Capacity Tray (LCIT) ensures accurate feeding for a wide variety of media types – including coated, textured, coloured and clear media with weights up to 360 gsm. Inline finishing options include a multi-folding unit, booklet maker, automatic high-capacity stacker, ring binder, perfect binder and more.
