Ricoh USA has unveiled its latest wide-format colour printer for the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) markets to help companies capture, transform and manage information quickly and simply. The compact Ricoh MP CW2201SP “makes sharing wide-format technical drawings, schematics, presentations and other information easier than ever,” said the OEM. “In today’s new world of work, AEC collaborators need to be able to share information across multiple locations – offices and work sites – efficiently. That includes the ability to use collaboration tools without the need for extensive training or scrolling through long lists of under-used options. The Ricoh MP CW2201SP’s improved user interface, in the form of Ricoh’s next-generation Smart Operation Panel, was designed with a focus on how these users actually interact with the device.”

Among the ways this Workstyle Innovation Technology facilitates speed and ease of use are: its automatic, customizable surfacing of frequently-used functions; driverless near-field communication (NFC) printing and sharing from mobile devices; and pre-configured print settings for the kinds of specialized documents these firms use. This speed does not come at the cost of security, said Ricoh. Built-in User Authentication and encryption features work to make sure only authorized users can send and access appropriate information while helping to ensure they can do so with ease.
“AEC firms are busy. They don’t have time for extensive device training, or scrolling past tons of features that, while often helpful, aren’t what they need,” said John Fulena, Vice President, Production Printing Business Group, Ricoh USA. “That’s why we designed the user experience for the Ricoh MP CW2201SP to be as swift and smooth as possible. Whether your collaborators are down the hall or across an ocean, this device makes it so they see what you see, as soon as they need to see it.”
Ricoh MP CW2201SP.With the ability to securely scan documents directly to a variety of destinations – including USB, SD card, email, folders, URL, FTP and document servers – the MP CW2201SP helps to ensure that all collaborators are on the same page quickly. Fast, high-quality 1200 x 1200 dpi printing produces colour pages at 2.1 ppm, twice as fast as its predecessor. Its specialized printhead configuration improves print quality and significantly enhances print productivity – by 190% for colour, and 119% for black and white pages, said the OEM. “That also means less need for reprints, further saving time and resources.”
