HP’s new industrial press powered by single-pass HP PageWide Technology is a “versatile, offset-quality cost solution for corrugated direct-to-board printing.” It’s designed to seamlessly integrate into standard production environments – from large, integrated packaging converters with centralized or distributed printing, to small, independent sheet plants – enabling users to affordably adopt digital technology for mainstream production. HP’s Corrugated Grip Technology accommodates a wide range of media – from the lightest micro-flute to the heaviest double-wall board. New water-based HP inks can print on the non-food-contact surface of paperboard packaging while complying with global food safety regulations and industry guidelines necessary to produce food-compliant packaging. The press joins HP’s portfolio of digital solutions for packaging – from thin films to cartons and corrugated. HP plans to start testing the HP PageWide C500 Press at customer sites in 2017, and it’s expected to be commercially available in 2018.
