View From the Publisher – Oh what a year it’s been, folks!

As the holiday season of 2019 has quickly approached, we are so grateful to have had such an exciting year covering the professional communications industry of Canada. With so many great developments in each of the design, print, signage, labels and packaging sectors, Graphic Arts was certainly kept busy on all fronts.
Whether this is your first issue reading Graphic Arts Magazine, or you’ve been with us from the very humble beginnings of The GraphIc Arts Buy and Sell Book which start back in 1997, our team thanks you for taking the time to check-in, read, browse, learn, and connect with us as your trusted industry media source. For the past 220 issues, we have proudly connected professionals to new equipment, service innovations, and ultimately, suppliers and prospects. I am so proud each and every day to serve this industry, in which I have spent my career.
I would like to take this opportunity to also thank our many partners who have allowed us to continue thriving in today’s digital world. My faithful team of writers, researchers, designers, content specialists, designers, production staff, and office team all work tirelessly, and I thank them so much for the endless dedication and effort they provided in 2019.
We have some big announcements to make in 2020, so please stay tuned! In the next February issue, we will have the capacity to link digital campaigns directly to your print advertising with digital QR codes! We hope this added benefit will help our advertisers connect their print advertising with digital campaigns.
This issue would also not have been made possible without the support from our fabulous advertisers. These businesses allow our small enterprise to operate and provide quality content for you each month. We do not charge you anything for this service, but simply ask and encourage you to please explore our advertiser’s offerings  – and let them know you saw them in Graphic Arts Magazine!
In this 10th issue of 2019, we are closing out 2019 and welcoming in 2020. Our editorial team has created top highlights to summarize all the highs, lows and in-betweens that 2019 had for us. You can find that story on pages 15-18. Alec Couckuyt also gives us a fascination preview into what 2020 has in store for us. I also encourage you to check out our feature on printing’s role in User Experience design, which can be found on page 24. I may have a slight bias here, but the author is top quality and her topic is a must-read for all print organizations heading into 2020.
From everyone at Graphic Arts Magazine, we wish you, your staff, co-workers, family, and friends a joyous holiday season. We look forward to providing even more for you and your business in 2020.
As always, stay positive and stay focused,
Joe Mulcahy
